Because laughter is also infectious.
"I'm constantly laughing. I'll chuckle, I giggle, I guffaw occasionally". (Woody Allen)
It’s National Let’s Laugh Day, and the world is hysterical; though not the type of hysterical that brings much warmth or a smile. The cherished human instinct of comfort and closeness that we crave is not a cure for Corona, rather an instigator. The very British tradition of “I’ll put the kettle on” is less a signal of help, and more a hindrance.
Today I laugh. Not because laughter is a cure. Not because it will take away the inevitable pain. But because laughter feels good. It’s infectious. It is a relief, and in the moment, it can temporarily free us. Laughter has long been, and remains, an epidemic free of risk.
